mumbai races weekend review

McDowell Indian Attracts Cream Of Global Riding TalentBy Our Correspondent
A surge of foreign riders will display thier saddle artistry during the McDowell Indian Derby weekend. Mick Kinane, Frankie Dettorie, Richard Huges, Mullen, will all be in action at the Mahalaxmi race course this weekend. The RWITC has geared up well to treat the racing patrons over the most awaited weekend of racing in the country. A total of 18 races have been slated over the two days of prime racing at the Mahalaxmi race course.
Saturday's Races will have a card of 9 events. The highlight of the Day is the Breeders' Produce Stakes. Ten 3 year olds will go to post and this race will be fought out by some tough youngsters with good credentials. Seven of them are coming into this race with a victory under their belt and picking a winner in this race would be quite a poser. Star Wave, among the lot, with his scintillating first out victory displayed a sizzling turn of foot to score from a hopless position. That run prompts me to expect an encore from the MAM owned filly.
The Black Dog 12 year Old Deluxe Trophy, the other attraction for the day to be settled over a 5 furlong scurry shold be pocketted by the Bezan Chinoy trained Enceladus. Enceladus has been distinctly unlucky in her previous outings and should assert in this set .
