Race Commentary

Odds at Race Time: Adallia 90/100. Passion In The Park 9/4.

Pacific Zone led from start and won untroubled. Nara, Socaroro and Adallia followed the winner all the way with Hymn Star, Brave Star. Passion In The Park graced in the wrong end and never showed any improvement. At 300 m, Pacific Zone strode clear of Socororo coming up on the rails and Adallia heavy on work far side with both not being able to get up to the eventual winner. Temptation came well to finish in the money.

Jockey Aadesh Kumar (NARA) reported loss of whip at the 450 meters . Since the horse was out of contention, no action has been initiated against the Jockey beyond reminding him of the notice with regard to the loss of whip.

Jockey J.E.Pereira (TEMPTATION) has been cautioned for changing course in the straight.

The Sr.V.O. reported that ADALLIA was examined after the race and found to be sound. The filly had a wolf tooth on the left side.

Artillary led from Home to Home, Xiamen, Frontier Mail, Black Brilliance and Chicklet last. Around 400 metres from home, Home To Home took over and sailed for a comfortable win over Xiamen. Phi Came well to finish third ahead of Frontier Mail fourth.

Odds at Race Time: Gaea 14/10. Fiery Fortune 4-1 and Silver Tern 6-1.

Gaea led from start and won with ease despite shifting out little at the end of the race. They raced almost in a single file with Gaea, Rococo, Silver tern and Fiery Fortune all separated by two lengths each. At 400 m, it looked a close race when all the four of them raced abreast with Gaea in the middle a shade behind Rococo and half a lengths behind far side Fiery Fortune and Silver Tern on the rails. But Gaea stretched out well to win. Silver Tern lost the second Place (due to allowance jockey could not ride out the horse in the last 200 meters) to Rococo and way behind Fiery Fortune.

Odds at Race Time: Phatek Philippe 90/100. Siroco and others 5-1 over.

Teaser led from start. Victor Ivanov, Siroco, Black Hussar, Vangelis, Queens Court and Lyrical Star seven lengths behind Phatek Philippe and the rest. Around 400 m from home, Victor Ivanov took over and was chased hotly by Black Hussar, Siroco and Queens court. Victor Ivanov held on from Queens Court with Siroco third and Black Hussar fourth. Vangelis finished an easy fifth.




Race Reports

Jockey C.D. Hayes (SIROCO) was observed to have checked his mount after a good start thus disappointing the horse and in the straight he made his move late. When questioned, Jockey Hayes stated that he was instructed to be in 4th/5th position and to be along the rails and to do his best in the straight. He added that in the straight there was a horse, TEASER, in front of him and hence he could not make his move earlier. Trainer Rehanullah Khan stated that the running style of SIROCO is to come from the back and today the horse found himself in front. He added that the horse does not like to be ridden from the front. The explanation tendered by Trainer Rehanullah Khan has been noted and Jockey Hayes has been cautioned for failing to take reasonable measures in the race.

Trainer Narendra Lagad and App Shailesh Shinde were questioned the running and riding of QUEENS COURT. App.Shailesh Shinde stated that he was instructed to be in 4th 5th position, pull the horse out and to do his best. When asked, the Trainer stated that he had given no specific instruction with regard to use of the whip. App.Shailesh Shinde, when asked as to why he had not used the whip in the straight, he replied that when he used the whip once, he felt that the horse did not like it and therefore he rode hands and heels. The Trainer took no exception to the Apprentice’s riding. The explanation of the Apprentice was noted.

Quand Meme led from start with Imperial Wish, Hi Dolly, Lone Sentinel, Tant Mieux, seven lengths behind Manege with Saddlers Star and the rest. Quand Meme had a slender lead over Imperial Wish as they passed 300 m with Hi Dolly and Lone Sentinel on the rails looking for the gap. Imperial Wish surged ahead to win with ease from Saddlers Star who was putting in nice work when the race was virtually in the hands of Imperial Wish to finish second ahead of Lone Sentinel and Quand Meme.

After the start SADDLERS STAR (C.D.Hayes) tried to veer to the outside .

Soon after the start, IMPRESSIVE WISH (Samuel Fargeat) shifted in and went across BEACON LIGHT (Neeraj Rawal) and then went on to MANEGE (P.Belose) who had to be checked and shifted in and jostled with MUSICAL RHYTHM (App.A.M.Tograllu) Jockey Samuel Fargeat has been fined Rs.1000/- for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.

Near 300 meters, LONE SENTINEL (P.S.Chouhan) shifted out and forced HI DOLLY (Zameer Sayyed) to shift out who in turn forced SADDLERS STAR (C.D.Hayes) to travel wide. Jockey P.S.Chouhan has been cautioned for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.

MANEGE (P.Belose) was inclined to lug out in the straight. Trainer Magansingh P.Jodha has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the colt.

The Stipendiary Stewards have initiated an enquiry into the running and riding of SADDLERS STAR and a report will be submitted shortly.

Race Commentary

Odds at Race Time: Thundering Star, Red Dawn 9/4. Born To Lead 4-1.

Convenience led all the way followed by Born To lead, Master Craft, Red Dawn, Thundering Star, Here Comes The Don and the rest. 200 metres from home both Convenience and Born To Lead on the outside fought with Convenience prevailed by a nose. Here Comes The Don finished third ahead of Red Dawn. Spiritual Hymn lost some ground at the start.




Race Reports

Trainer Hosidar Daji requested for withdrawal of his charge STAR O’ WAR after the declaration stage on the ground that he had used a certain feed supplement which he suspects may have been contaminated. He had given the same supplement to his other horse whose sample had returned positive for a prohibited substance. As such, STAR O’WAR was withdrawn from the race and his urine sample was collected for analysis.

SPIRITUAL HYMN (P.Belose) was slowly out losing about 5 lengths at the start. Since the mare had behaved in a similar manner in her last run, Trainer Magansingh P.Jodha has been asked to take remedial measures and show the mare in a mock race to the satisfaction of the Starter, before next accepting to race her.

At the start, WILD VEGAS (H.G.Rathod) jumped out awkwardly towards the outside and jostled with COSMIC FLOWER (Anil Baandal). Jockey H.G.Rathod has been cautioned for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.

Trainer M.K.Jadhav and Jockey Y.S.Srinath were questioned regarding the poor performance of THUNDERING STAR in this race. Both the Trainer and the Jockey could not explain the poor performance. However, Trainer M.K.Jadhav submitted a letter the next day stating that he had the horse scoped after the race and found to have suffered EIPH Grade III. In view of the above, the enquiry has been closed and THUNDERING STAR has been stopped from racing for the stipulated period of four weeks and until passed fit by the Club’s V.O.

Odds at Race Time: Thundering Hooves 45/100 and Beau Jolais 6-1.

Great Heart led for a while with Thundering Hooves a close handy second followed by Sophie, Minerva, Incredible Beauty, Beau Jolais and the rest of the runners. Around the 400 m, Thundering Hooves took over and sailed for an easy win. Sophie moved to second and chased the winner. Incredible Beauty finished third ahead of Great Heart and Beau Jolais a close fifth.

Trainer P Shroff requested for withdrawal of his charge OH SO ROMANTIC after the declaration stage on the ground of late realization of the medication given to the horse. The said permission was granted and Trainer P Shroff was fined Rs.15,000/- for his lapse.

Approaching the 200 meters, RULE OF LAW (P.Belose) shifted in under use of the whip and made contact with MINERVA ( (Neeraj Rawal) and ricocheted off MINERVA, shifted out and inconvenienced ZEN (K.P.G.Appu). At the same time INCREDIBLE BEAUTY (Satish Nayak) shifted in and went across ZEN who had to be checked. Jockeys P.Belose & Satish Nayak have been cautioned for failing to exercise proper control over their respective mounts.

Appreciate led for a while from Really Romantic, Kadima, See The Truth, Touch The Sky, Crespo on the far side. Appreciate still led at 400 m with See The Truth making a nice move in the middle and Crespo too coming up well. At 200 m, See The Truth established a two-length lead over Crespo ridden hard to stay on second ahead of Touch The Sky and Beau Monde.

Odds at Race Time: Balance De Power closed at 2-1 from 14/10. Cotswold Arms 9/2 rest 6-1.

On settling down, Spica led by lengths from Balance De Power, Queen Of The Turf, little behind Oprha and Cosmopolitan together and the rest with Somethingabouther and Fantastic Knight last. At the top of the straight, Spica still had 5 lengths lead over Balance De Power, Queen Of The Turf closing in and Cotswold Arms too coming up. Balance De Power was chased by Cotswold Arms and fought till the end to lose by a head. Echoes Of Light came well to finish third ahead of Tiring Queen Of The Turf.

ECHOES OF LIGHT (Neeraj Rawal) fly jumped and lost a length at the start.

Soon after the start, the field on the outside shifted in, due to which FANTASTIC KNIGHT (App D.K.Ashish, dr.1) received interference. Since the incident was accidental, no action has been initiated against any Jockey.

Near 800 meters, COSMOPOLITAN (Daniel M Grant) was checked by its rider when COTSWOLD ARMS (C.Rajendra) shifted out due to OPRAH (Y.S. Srinath) who was racing ahead, shifting in. Jockey Y.S. Srinath has been cautioned for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.

Jockey C.Rajendra (COTSWOLD ARMS) reported loss of his whip at 200 meters. Since the horse won the race, no action has been initiated against the Jockey beyond reminding him of the notice with regard to the loss of whip.

Apprentice Nadeem Alam (SPICA) has been cautioned for riding an injudicious race wherein he had allowed his mount to race freely and took a big lead and in doing so, the filly had nothing left in her in the final two furlongs.

Odds at Race Time: Star legend 90/100. Rest of the runners 5-1 and over.

Star Legend took over and set own pace and won convincingly. Catalunya and Maybach with Sea Gull raced almost in the same position to end Sea Gull, Catalunya and Maybach to fill the frame. Alazkan Zone finished fifth from the rear position ahead of Game Of Power who raced with the pace to retire sixth. Dance Diva was slow into the stride and raced all through last.
