Mahalaxmi race course braces for :Battle of Speed and Stamina
It is action time at Mahalaxmi and the curtain raizer show on the opening day hints that a competitive and exisiting racing action is on the cards.A look around the race course convinces one that RWITC is all set to unfold a lucrative season offering the highest stake money. The race course bears a fresh look and speaking on the changes for this season Mr Nanjapa, Clerk of the Course ,informed that the inside sand track has been widened to 30 feet. This will help in the morning track as the extension of 10 feet has been allocated exclusively for fast work. The outside track where sea sand has been used will be easy on the horses with tendons. The main grass track has been renovated and relaid between the 2000 meter marker up to the mile chute. The bookmakers' ring has been provided with extra lighting and four new 42” LCD TVs have been installed for punters to view the race from any angle.
The day’s card however could have been better filled. The seven races slated for the day have mostly a small number of contenders. The main attraction of the day – The Ceasers Palace Juvenile Debut Stakes has the maximum number of runners for the day – 14. The rest of the races have 10 or even less runners. However, the card looks competitive enough for an interesting battle in every race.
